Senior Management

Sal Tarsia is a Managing Director of Summit Real Estate Advisors. Sal’s 15 year real estate career includes experience in structured lending, CMBS, acquisitions and asset management.  Most recently, Sal was with Principal Finance, the proprietary lending arm of Capmark Finance Inc. (formerly GMAC Commercial Mortgage), serving as Managing Director and co-head of the U.S. Lending Operations, managing its NY office.  Sal lead Principal Finance to record originations each year from 2005 through 2007 growing originations from just over $4 billion to nearly $7 billion in 2007. In addition, the Principal Finance group achieved record profit levels in 2005 and 2006 under his leadership.  During Sal’s 8 years at Capmark, he helped form and grow the group’s floating rate lending platform, as well as aiding in the development of the company’s New Market Tax Credit program which is designed to provide commercial incentives to develop and reposition asset in lower income urban areas. Prior to joining GMAC Commercial Mortgage in 2000, Sal was the Senior Credit Officer for Matrix Acceptance Corporation, a boutique specialty lender. Sal began his career in the asset management end of the business, as an asset manager for a low income housing tax credit syndicator, responsible for portfolio management of over 70 assets and prior, as an acquisitions underwriter and asset manager for a multifamily apartment investment company. Sal received a BS in Business from SUNY Albany (graduating Cum Laude), and a Master’s in Real Estate Finance from NYU.

Allen Ostroff is a Managing Director at Summit Hospitality Advisors.  Allen graduated from New York University with a B.S. in Industrial Management.  Allen joined Hilton Hotels at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel developing the tools for operations analysis.  Allen then became the manager of the 1,783 room Statler Hilton New York and, after 3 years, was promoted to become the general manager of the 2,100 room New York Hilton Hotel.  Allen was offered, a short time later, the chance to create a major hotel investment portfolio for the Prudential Realty Group, a division of Prudential Insurance Company.  He spent 24 years creating a $3.6 billion hotel equity portfolio and a $1 billion shopping center portfolio.  The hotel portfolio consisted of over 30,000+ rooms and numerous restaurants.  His responsibilities included financial structuring, asset management, ground-up development, and property repositioning.   

Patricia Mattoon is a Director at Summit Real Estate Advisors with primary responsibilitity for Asset Management and Workouts.  Pat has over 25 years of experience as a real estate asset and portfolio manager working for large real estate equity firms and lending institutions including GMAC Commercial Mortgage, Hypo Real Estate, Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association (TIAA/CREF), Chase Bank.  Ms. Mattoon is an Asset Manager and workout veteran with a proven history of maximizing non-performing debt and REO portfolio value on various asset classes, including office, retail and residential properties.  Ms. Mattoon most recently held a post as a senior asset manager for Capmark Finance, Inc. (fka GMAC Commercial Mortgage), where she was responsible for manageing a portfolio of performing and distressed office and retail loans ranging in size from $10 million to $200 million.  She re-underwrote assets with failed business plans to determine viability of workout vs. foreclosure strategies.  Prior to Capmark, Ms. Mattoon was a portfolio manager for HYPO Real Estate, the New York branch of a German Bank.  She managed a portfolio of condominium loans in excess of $1 billion for ground up construction projects in New York and Boston and condominium conversion loans totaling $400 million.  Before joining these institutions, Ms. Mattoon managed her own consulting company and worked on numerous important assignments including one as an appointed Receiver by the New York Courts, and consulting assignments with Atlantic Bank of New York and Metro Bank for Savings, providing market analysis and valuations on a portfolio of distressed properties and making recomendations to the bank for restructuring versus foreclosure actions.  Ms. Mattoon's Asset Management career started at Teachers Insurance (TIAA/CREF) in the REO asset management group for investment grade hi-rise and suburban office buildings.

Allen Prewitt is a Director at Summit Real Estate Advisors, and handles Southeast originations. Prior to joining SREA has was a head originator for M&I Bank, in addition held senior posts at Fifth Third, Coast Bank of Florida, JP Morgan and SouthTrust Bank. In 2008 alone, while the commercial real estate capital markets were paralyzed, Allen successfully closed approximately $100 million of business. He has over twenty years of experience in banking and product management. Allen has a BS from the University of Winnipeg, and an MBA from the University of South Florida. He also is a member the ICSC.
